2016 Call for Abstracts – Poster Session at Partners Connected Health Symposium

The Partners Connected Health Symposium is a change-agent conference that promotes innovative thinking and the application of personal consumer health technologies to support new models of care delivery. With a focus on trends at the intersection of technology and new models of health care delivery, the Symposium convenes thought leaders in an effort to grow the rapidly-expanding connected health marketplace. Our audience is a high-profile gathering of innovators, researchers, industry representatives and policymakers who gather for knowledge-sharing across the connected health landscape. Over 100 speakers and more than 1,000 attendees come together to define the future of care delivery and impact the day-to-day lives of patients.

We are now accepting submissions for the Poster Session at the 2016 Partners Connected Health Symposium (October 20-21, 2016, Boston, MA). Poster presentations are an opportunity for academics and researchers working in the field of Connected Health to share your research findings with an international audience. Reflecting the multidisciplinary nature of Connected Health, we encourage scholars from a variety of disciplines to submit an abstract (e.g., public health, communication, sociology, psychology, engineering and human computer interaction, human factors and user experience design). If selected, you will receive one free registration to the Symposium. Posters will be on display throughout the Symposium with special designated times for poster viewing. One author should plan to be next to their posters to answer questions during these designated times.

The deadline for submitting an abstract is June 5, 2016. Abstract submission deadline extended, new deadline: June 20th, 2016. Authors will be notified of the acceptance no later than July 31, 2016.

Posters presented at the Symposium will also be eligible for publication at a reduced rate in the Journal of Medical Internet Research (JMIR) or sister journal (see below for details). JMIR has an impact factor of 3.4 and is the #1 ranked medical informatics journal. Note that acceptance as a poster presentation at the Connected Health Symposium does not guarantee acceptance for publication at JMIR. The theme for the 2016 Connected Health Symposium is, “Digital Technology that Cares: Bringing the Human Element to Life.” Topics for poster presentations should be relevant to the Symposium theme or one of the topic areas listed below:

Submission Instructions

Submit an abstract of 500 words or less. Abstracts are due no later than June 5, 2016Abstract submission deadline extended, new deadline: June 20th, 2016. Abstracts must be structured in sections that include: Background, Objective, Methods, Results, and Conclusions. In the results section include relevant statistics, if applicable, such as sample sizes, response rates, p-values or confidence intervals. References are not to be included in the abstract.

To submit an abstract, go to: iProceedings website. (Please paste the abstract into the respective abstract field, and upload a file with the abstract as a Word file. The abstract should have the headings "Background - Objectives - Methods - Results - Conclusion".)

An independent panel of experts in the field of Connected Health have been assembled to review abstracts and recommend those to be invited to present at the Connected Health Symposium.

Publication Options for CH Symposium Poster Presentations

Abstracts of posters presented at the Connected Health Symposium will be published online in iProceedings (

Posters presented at the CH Symposium are also eligible for publication at a reduced rate in the Journal of Medical Internet Research (JMIR) or a sister journal ( JMIR is the leading eHealth/mHealth journal with an Impact Factor of 3.4. Poster presenters are eligible for a 20% Article Processing Fee discount, worth $380, if submitted between 2 months before or up to 3 months after the Symposium (October 21, 2016). To be eligible for this discount, authors MUST select the Connected Health Symposium “section” in the drop down list at the JMIR submission page ( Sorry, no discounts/refunds for already submitted/published papers, or if submitted after the deadline.

Full-length research papers submitted to JMIR will undergo a peer-review. If accepted for publication the total, discounted Article Processing Fee of $1,520 is due at the time of acceptance. Papers may be accepted for publication in JMIR or one of the sister journals, including JMIR mHealth and uHealth, JMIR Bioinformatics and Biotechnology, JMIR Mental Health, JMIR Serious Games, JMIR Rehabilitative and Assistive Technologies, JMIR Human Factors, JMIR Medical Education. If declined for JMIR or one of the sister-journals listed above, there will be no charge to authors.
